Shiite leader Ayatollah Mohammed Baqir al-Hakim, shown imprinted on a wall carpet at a mosque in Baghdad March 14, was killed in a car bombing in the Shiite holy city of Najaf in August 2003. Al-Hakim was imprisoned in the 1970s under Saddam Hussein's regine and fled to Iran in th 1980s where he lived until returning to Iraq in May 2003.
